Tonight was the first night of class. After a rapid introduction to our first assignment, we used iMovie to create a movie trailer integrating concepts about universal design of learning and creating movies which deliver messages. We used a variety of assistive tech tools from iPad to dimpled balls. By the way we= Ann Gummeson, Janet Dornan and Bill Bruhm. Each group's presentation was different and very interesting.
Barb presented a Keynote presentation on Assistive Technology-past, present and future. Matching the task to the skill set to the technology-- the important formula. Do we realize how complicated it is for our students to read and write? Class composition is an incredible factor in learning success for all students. We must never forget that we are promoting independence for our students.
It is amazing how the technology is changing, even from the course I took last year. The iPad is leaps and bounds above other tablets in terms of accessibility for users as they are built in.
